Safety Rules For Ice Fishing On Lakes And Rivers
The Fish and Game Department urges caution on ice thick enough to support a person and warns shore ice is often the most dangerous. Stay away from protrusions and inlets, beware thin ice over swift water, and avoid discolored ice. If you fall through, stay calm, try to reach shore, and call for help. If alone, use a sharp object to gain a grip and roll away from danger on exit.
