Four early-day Montanans were claimed by death in one short period last week. Three Helena residents are named John Blank aged 76 who lived in Helena over 50 years Jeff M Duncan who resided in the capital city nearly 55 years and Nettie E Kirkendall who settled in Helena in 1868 after traveling from the Missouri river by steamboat. The fourth is Mrs Frances Culbertson Irvin born February 14 1858 in Fort Benton.
Teton high school defeated Power 25 to 9 in a return game. The Bulldogs built an 8-2 lead after one quarter, extended to 15-2 at halftime, and finished 25-9. Vick and D Rose stood out, with improving defense and sharpened passing and shooting.
Margaret Cannole daughter of Mr and Mrs Bud Cannole Pendroy and AL Warneke formerly of Minnesota now Pendroy were married at St Luke's church in Chateau at 7 am Wednesday. Father EF J McGowan performed the ceremony. The couple will reside in Pendroy after a honeymoon trip to Butte.

Ash Wednesday marks Lent with mass and the blessing of ashes. At St Tatke's Church 8 a.m. Mass led by Rev. J Schulte, 7:30 p.m. sermons by Rev. Edward J. McGowan, Way of the Cross Fridays, and Lent devotions Sundays. Daily Masses at 7:30 and 8 a.m. Fasting and abstinence urged for all. Protestant churches also observe Lent.
County Agent Fred Willson announced three Extension Farm Accounting schools next week in Pendroy Chateau and Dutton. John C. Bower extension economist from Bozeman will assist. Sessions run 10 a m to 3 30 p m inviting both men and women interested in keeping farm accounts.
A county committee met at the county agent's office to plan the 14th annual Farmers Fun Feed to be held Thursday March 23 at the high school building in Chateau. The home economics department will oversee the meal and committees were formed for dining room music arrangements program floor and door tickets with several members named as chairs and members. Committee members were instructed to solicit first and second choice numbers from community organizations and return them to the county agent by March 1 to help balance the program.
Farmers received notices of 1939 crop acreage allotment with normal yield and productivity index for payments. Swenson explains crop insurance relies on individual crop production records not county averages. Two weeks remain to apply for insurance to ensure production this year.
Teton travels to Shelby Friday night for a pre tournament practice game as the regular season ends. Shelby enters with a strong Class B record and wins over several Class A teams, providing a tournament atmosphere. District tournament follows Wednesday in Great Falls with Fort Benton Fort Shaw and Chateau favored. Power faces Teton in the fourth game at 9 30.
The 21st annual coming of age event for Teton Old Timers will be held on Saturday evening March 4 at Fairfield Norwe gian hall. Tobe's Toe Ticklers will provide music for dancing as plans aim for a record celebration. Eligibility requires age 21 and parental eligibility for the Old Timers. Directors include Dick Reiding president Olga Monkman secretary and John Dale vice president.
Patrolman Jack Riggs of Chateau says a weekly road condition bulletin will be posted at Justice Clearman's office for anyone needing such information.
A large turnout filled the Masonic temple dining hall last Saturday evening for the Lincoln Day dinner. Reverend R. F. Vick of the Methodist church spoke on Lincoln's character while BE. J. Mec Gowan of the Catholic church critiqued world unrest. Other speakers included C. H. Connor, B. I. Packer, George Coffey, Bill Wallenstein, Paul Kropp, Chas. Dawley, and Earl Vance of Great Falls. Betty Webb provided a vocal solo with piano by Mrs. M. E. Butlerdick and a George Carroll song titled McNamara's Band.
