Farm program set-aside land requires average productivity
The 1972 voluntary wheat and feed grain set aside programs depend on an average productivity rule heeding to set aside land. Farmers signing up by March 10 must designate productive cropland at least equal to the land used for program crops. Antrim notes the rule drives efficient, targeted shifts in regional crops and reduces excess production.
