Skyline Lodge retirement center plan outlined at chamber meeting
Great Falls architects George Page and Vince Werner along with John Todd of the Eagles Manor Retirement Center spoke to the Chateau Chamber of Commerce about the Skyline Lodge project. The 60 unit center could cost $800,000 to build with annual operating expenditures around $110,000 to $120,000 and about 10 local jobs. The board seeks local funding of about $25,000 for furniture and capital, with a Founders Club already raising over half of the $1,000 donor level. Construction could start after February loan approval, aiming for a fall 1970 start and summer 1971 occupancy.

Women To Compete In Speech Contest
The 7th annual speech contest of the Chateau Toastmistress Club will be held tonight at 8 p.m. in the United Methodist Church parlor. Contestants from the local club chose subjects from three words given a week ago, delivering a five to seven minute speech. The winner advances to the occomners perch contest and will prepare a new speech. Judges include Mrs Ralph Sluys, Mrs Glenn Carpenter, Rev Allen Adams, and Richard Baird. Mrs Percy Robinson will be toastmistress. The program opens with Jodi Hamilton reading The Devil and the Red-Headed Woman. Refreshments will be served during vote tallying. Public invited.

Residents’ Daughter Dies in Pasadena
Mr and Mrs Earl Hollar returned from California after attending funeral services for their daughter Mrs Lee Patricia Wolter who died at her Pasadena home on January 19. Services were held January 26 with interment at Pasadena Mausoleum. Survivors include her widower and her mother of Carlsbad California plus brothers Don Hollar Los Angeles Ray Hollar Cortez Robert Hollar Provo. The Hollars stayed with their son Mr Jack Luinstra and family in Thousand Oaks during the visit.

Mrs Panton Hoen Dies in Great Falls
Mrs Pat Pern McCrae Hoen, 64, of Great Falls, died Monday in a local hospital. Born March 4, 1905 in Grand Forks, North Dakota, she married Pat Hoen in 1927. She was a Bethal Lutheran Church charter member and Homemaker's Club member. Survived by widower, daughter Mrs Frank Kelly of Chateau, son Patrick Hoen of Great Falls, seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
