Former Choteau area resident Ray Gibler died early Monday in Tacoma Washington. Services will be held in Tacoma with memorials directed to the Choteau United Methodist Church. The Giblers moved to near a daughter in Tacoma about two years ago.

Christmas Tree Pick up Announced by City Works
City crews will collect Christmas trees on Monday January 3 and Monday January 10. Residents should place trees in the alley near their garbage for city pickup. The city dump will open the afternoon of Sunday January 2 for those who wish to haul their own trees or other waste.

Enrollment in Choteau Schools Declines Over Ten Years
Enrollment data from Supt. R W Gormley shows 623 students in the Choteau system with 392 in elementary and 231 in high school. The elementary school grew to 392 in 1971 from 282 in 1951, while high school numbers peaked earlier at 259 in 1963 and have since stabilized around the 230s. Projections foresee 217 high school students by 1975 with grade school figures not available.

Stores Close Friday for New Year Holiday
Stores in the city will close Friday December 31 according to Chamber of Commerce president Chester Abbott. A voluntary closure was discussed at the last Chamber meeting with several businessmen planning to close. All stores will also be closed Saturday January 1 except Safeway Store and Neighborhood Grocery open both days.

Vehicle License On Sale Monday in County Treasurers Office
County Treasurer Connie Kuster announces license stickers for vehicles will go on sale Monday January 3 at the treasurer’s office. Existing plates will carry last year’s sticker for one more year with new plates issued next year on an every other year cycle. Snowmobile licenses also start January 3 with a $1 state decal by sending receipt to the State Board of Equalization.

Blood Drawing Is Successful in Choteau
Ninety people donated blood at the American Legion Auxiliary blood drawing in Choteau last Tuesday, exceeding the 65 pint quota by 25 pints.
