October total reached 34 bonds plus stamps over 5500 dollars, November 35 bonds and 1650 dollars, and December up to 95 bonds with 11000 dollars plus 300 dollars in stamps. Lieut Theo Halvorson owner of Choteau Drug Co now at Camp Wolters Mineral Wells Texas returns to Choteau for a holiday furlough. He'll report back by December 29 enjoying army life and Texas weather. Camp Wolters houses 18000 soldiers with a 1000 bed hospital 70 doctors and 60 nurses for whom he supplies pharmaceutical ingredients keeping the soldiers in good condition.

Funeral for World War Vet Hamill B Alexander Held Today

The Capt. C. James Smith Post American Legion of Chateau will conduct funeral services at 2 p.m. from Banks Funeral Home for Hamill B Alexander a World War veteran who died last Saturday night December 20 at the Bill Ward home in Chateau. Alexander 62 died of natural causes and had no immediate survivors. He enlisted in Pennsylvania and moved to Teton County about a year ago working for Bob Clark last summer after previously living in California and elsewhere.

Army Carrier Pigeon Found Dead at Ranger Station

Ranger Wm. Gaffney of the local forest service found a dead carrier pigeon in the barn at Ear Mountain ranger station. The bird bore a metal band numbered 75 similar to U S Army pigeons and the band was sent to Washington for identification. A live army signal corps emergency bird is later identified at another regional station.

Dutton Liquor Store Burglar Arrested In Great Falls

One Barney Moran was arrested in Great Falls after a series of postal and liquor store burglaries across the Dakotas and Montana. Moran allegedly confessed to nine postal and six liquor-store robberies and operated alone, with impending federal prosecution in Minot, North Dakota.

Bynum Couple Wed In Church Ceremony At Great Falls

Miss Gene Umphress and Wade Tumble of Bynum exchanged vows last Saturday December 20 at the First Methodist Church in Great Falls. Rev Cecil Ristow officiated with attendants Lewis Savik and Wallis Townsend. Gene is the daughter of Ray and Mrs. Umphress of Dutton and a former Bynum teacher. Wade is a rancher who attended Missouri high school.
