The 94 page booklet German War Practices by the Committee on Public Information includes diary excerpts from German soldiers. One entry describes a shell burst wounding seven, and orders to execute male inhabitants of Nomeny, burning houses and driving civilians into France. Copies are available free from the Committee on Public Information in Washington.

Exchanges average 10000 dollars in goods per site with a daily 1000 dollar sales figure across 250 operations yearly business totals in the millions. Plans also cover care for injured soldiers including limbs training and vocational work with heat therapies and gymnasiums.

County Officials Adopt Rates and Appointments in December Session
The county commissioners adjourned their December session with several actions. A contract for care of the poor was awarded to Mrs Ed Dennis at 95 cents daily for inmates up to 6, 90 cents for ages 6 to 12, and 85 cents for over 12. The auditor's office was vacated, C James Smith having been absent beyond the required period. Adeline Smith was appointed auditor to serve until the first Monday in January 1919. The county attorney’s office was vacated. Walter L Verge was replaced by Geo W Magee for the term ending the first Monday in January 1919. The auditor was authorized to hire a deputy for one month to inspect weights and measures. H J McGregor was named county physician at 1100 dollars salary, and H T Rhoads was appointed county health officer at 1000 dollars.

Yeager Rites Held for H W Yeager in Chateau Montana
H W Yeager died Sunday in a Chicago hospital after illness and travel. He was born October 27, 1863 in Tippicanoe County Indiana and moved to Missouri then Montana with his family in 1878. Survived by five children, two parents, and twenty one grandchildren. funeral at 2:00 p.m. tomorrow at H B Ashworth lime, Woodmen of the World serving.

Soldier Fred E. Dauwalder dies of spinal meningitis at Camp Lewis
Fred E. Dauwalder a member of the national army from Teton county died at Camp Lewis Washington from spinal meningitis. He was 24 born in Albany Illinois came to Teton county with his mother and siblings four years ago and joined the second contingent from Teton county on September 22. He is survived by his mother three brothers and two sisters. The body will be shipped to Albany for burial with the family meeting the remains at Dutton. Neighbors and friends express sympathy.

The Sunday school will present a church program on Christmas eve at eight o clock. A Hooverized treat will be given to Sunday school children. The children plan to donate a gift to starving children of Syria. Offerings may be placed in the plate. Next Sunday morning the pastor will preach a Christmas sermon.

War Savings Certificates and Stamps Explained
On January 1 1923 five years hence the U S government will pay 100 for certificates. You will receive 17 60 for the use of money four per cent compounded quarterly or a little more than 40 per cent straight interest. A partly filled certificate may be redeemed with 10 days notice for 1 cent per month advance upon the cost of each War Savings Stamp as shown by the back table representing about 3 per cent annual interest. The Thrift Stamp sells for 25 cents and all War Savings Stamps mature at the same value regardless of purchase date.
