County Assets Rise in County Clerk Report for 1930
The county’s current assets increased to 380 100.34 from 375 497.70 last year, while fixed assets rose to 545 519.66 from 544 126.16. Total assets reached 925 620.00 up from 919 619.96 though year end balances fell about 20 000 to 402 541.41. Receipts totaled 747 751.74, with over 13 000 rise in current taxes. County roads and bridges cost about 14 000 less than 1929, and sinking funds show a shortfall of about 315 000 for bond retirement.

Public School To Open Next Tuesday in Chateau District
The Chateau city school will open next Tuesday September 2 with Miss Ruby Miller as head and superintendent of district No 1. Three district schools begin September 8. Top notch teams entered in baseball tournament here
The Young Stars of Great Falls and two other Northern Montana teams will compete in a two day district tournament in Chateau on August 31 and September 1. Leaders Joe Lincoln and the Teton Stars head strong teams, with Pondera All Stars joining Cosmopolitans, Bootleggers withdraw. Six teams expected, season tickets offer four games for 1.00, single admission 50 cents. The Teton Stars will disband September 1. fans urged to attend all games.

Forest Fire Near Moonlight Peak Reports 50 Acre Blaze
A forest fire 18 miles west of Bar Mountain in heavy timber near Moonlight Peak was detected by William Johnson at Wrong Ridge lookout. About 22 firefighters reached Ear Mountain station by Tuesday, with efforts led by Ranger Walter Streeter to contain the 50 acre blaze started likely by an electrical storm. Additional fires reported were quickly controlled or dismissed as groundless.

Local Attorney George Magee III Stricken With Illness
George Magee III, a well known local attorney and pioneer, is seriously ill at Maynard hospital with heart trouble. He fell ill at home a week ago and was admitted Monday. His brother’s death at Cut Bank worsened his condition as Harold Magee and his wife traveled from Missoula upon learning of the illness.
