Montana boat owners may license without tax receipts
Under a new ruling by Attorney General Forrest H. Anderson, certain Montana boat owners will not be required to present county assessor tax receipts when buying boat licenses. An amended law from July 1, 1961 requires receipts, but the ruling allows notarized affidavits in place of receipts for motor boats, to be kept by license agents and later sent to assessors.

Montana fishing hit by low water across streams
Low water conditions in Montana streams and rivers reach multi year lows due to irrigation and little rainfall. Fish crowd into deeper holes while feeding slows. larger streams offer the best fishing, with grasshoppers or wet flies fished deep, especially toward dusk. High mountain lakes look best for August, with a September pickup expected after the typical summer slump in small trout streams.
