Orderly Marketing of Cattle Urged
Montana ranchers are urged to avoid heavy shipments to markets immediately after the freeze ends. Julian Terrett Jr. of Miles City, president of the Montana Stock Growers Association, warns that bunching cattle at markets could lower prices and stresses orderly processing to keep prices stable. He adds feeders can pass added costs on dollar for dollar once the freeze lifts, noting mass marketing could erase gains from the ceiling price on beef.
