Fire destroys Rod Vaaler General Store at Fairfield
A fire wrecked the Rod Vaaler general merchandise store in Fairfield, reducing the two story building to ashes. The blaze began in a machine shed or possibly from a gasoline stove explosion while Vaaler and family were away. The loss includes a new electric piano and radio among household goods. Nearby buildings were spared and volunteers fought the flames as Fairfield lacks a fire department. Also, tax levies in Teton county will rise to 46.11 mills from 44.833 mills, with several changes including a separate item for the state education bond interest.
