History of Teton County and 1913 Choteau rail era
Seventy years ago Teton County was created from Chouteau County in 1893 with C Wallace Taylor Walter S Clark and John P Flint as initial commissioners and J E Wamsley as clerk. The name derives from the Teton Indians and the Teton River once called Rose. Fifty years ago tracks began in Choteau with Wallace Weaver driving the first spike marking the railroad's progress and large townsite prospects along the Great Northern line from Power to Bynum with depots planned and a $15 000 block hotel promised.
