Montana Bill 112 Drives Disposal Fees for Old Car Bodies
A Montana bill proposes a $4 vehicle title transfer disposal fee plus a $1 annual license charge to fund scrapped car body disposal. Private wrecking yards would pay $2 per junk vehicle and a $50 annual license if they handle four or more per year. Up to half the funds go to counties to acquire disposal sites, with private contracts for crushing and shipping to processors. The law shifts licensing from the highway to health department, with annual reporting and potential fee adjustments by future legislatures.
