Teton County High Takes Second in District Scholastic Meet
Teton county high earned 62 percent for second place at the district scholastic meet in Great Falls. Fort Benton topped with 96 percent, Belt ranked third with 55, and Great Falls fourth with 52. 387 students from 12 high schools were tested in 25 subjects with Teton earning five firsts four seconds and three thirds among others.

Chateau 4-H Council outlines spring plans and activities
Forty four 4-H leaders assistants and members met at Chateau for the spring council. Harry Laubach presided while Mrs Mabel Crane was secretary. Plans included a county picnic on June 27, a round robin baseball tournament and a junior 4-H fair this fall. The Lions club and city council pledged cooperation and guests spoke on support for the fair and activities. Natalie McDermott from Fair won first in 25 tested subjects.

After June 1 1937 all Montana voters must re register to exercise voting rights. County Clerk Geo A Carroll plans new registration in the county. Senate Bill 65 requires full re registration lists and orders clerks to burn prior records within five days after June 1.

Meeting of Recreation Council Held Here Friday
Thirty seven members attended the April meeting of the county Recreation Council at the high school. The Bole community led entertainment with singing and folk dancing. active games and relays were run by Zeiglers, Bush, and Mrs Davison. Ed Savik led the business session and a 1937 chautauqua planning panel was named with representatives from Bynum, Diamond Valley, Liberty Center, Collins, Farmington, Pendrey, Chateau, and Bob Davison. May meeting leaders from Collins and Liberty Center.

Hutchinson Named Teton County Relief Case Worker
At a recent meeting the Teton county board of public welfare named D. W. Hutchinson of Great Falls as county relief case worker. He starts April 16 with headquarters at the courthouse relief office and will oversee old age pensions mothers pensions and other relief forms. Mrs Edna F Young remains as clerk and stenographer. Hutchinson a University of Montana graduate previously worked at Cascade county relief and has a journalism background with ties to The Acantha. He and his wife Ada Benedict plan to reside in an apartment at the Glenloyd.

Mrs Weeks Dies Suddenl y After Washington Trip
Long distance call reports the sudden death of Mrs. Harry B. Weeks in Walla Walla after a trip from Helena and Helena area relatives. Survivors include husband Bud a daughter Mrs Woomis and several siblings with her mother living in Kalispell. Interment expected in Kalispell.

Old Timers Recall Montana’s Frontier Days
John Zimmerman 33, Seattle resident, traveled to Montana in 1879 with Uncle David Hilger, state historical librarian. Zimmerman helped build Fort Assinniboine, freighted Fort Benton routes, and served as Teton County’s first sheriff in 1894 before retiring to Seattle. He visited Helena and his daughters before returning home. Evelyn McDonnell, once Evelyn Cutz, stopped in Choteau after years at the county assessor’s office and crematory.

Last Northern Timber Wolf Killed Near Sun River
John Johnson and his dog Whiskers hunted a lone northern timber wolf near Circle Creek five miles above the Sun River camp. The wolf, about seven and a half feet long, was pursued after attacking a coyote and elk. Johnson killed it at close range after a long chase. Officials debate bounty payment, while locals consider buying the pelt for mounting. the value cited ranges from $35 in markets to $100 as a potential sale to the hunter.

At the Chateau Country Club board meeting in 1937 committees were elected for greens and fairways, entertainment, and ladies activities. Doc Orwell will oversee course work as the season opens. A $10 membership fee spurs new signups ahead of a mixed foursome tournament on April 25.

Reverend Edwin Dover returned last Thursday from Lewistown and Buffalo where he visited his father seriously ill with pneumonia. He is now out of the hospital. Mrs. Dover and the children accompanied him but remained to spend time with his family.

Teton FFA sweeps district meet at Cascade Park
Teton chapter of the Future Farmers of America captured sweepstakes honors at the Cascade Park district meet with about 175 boys. Led by H. A. Winner, the team won first in Sweepstake, grain judging, public speaking, rifle shooting, with other high placements. Charles Tumblin won public speaking. The district meet also involved several other schools and awarded cups and medals.

County wool pool organized with multiple growers meeting
About 15 small wool growers in the county, totaling roughly 6500 fleeces, met at the courthouse to form a county wide wool pool. A tentative marketing agreement was developed and distributed for sign up before May 1. The plan outlines wool handling rules, pricing deductions, and the sales committee structure with Grover Parker et al as organizers.
