Wm. G. Ferguson president of Montanans Inc. will speak at the Choteau Lions Club meeting Tuesday evening April 25. Forest officials and guides and packers association members will attend to promote cooperation between Montanans Inc. and dude ranchers to boost tourist travel through the state.
The county agent's office announces an all day training session for 4 H leaders on Thursday April 20 starting at 10 am. Fred Willson Miss Lois Knowlton H D A and R B Cameron state 4 H leader will lead. The club year program will be planned including demonstration judging methods recreation contests and activities.
City council designates April 10 to 30 as a cleanup period. Debris and waste must be placed for free pickup by city trucks on Saturday April 29. Property owners are urged to comply to support sanitation and city beautification.
W H Wellenstein, chairman of the Teton County Agricultural Conservation Committee, said a recent rejection of a 250 million dollar parity payment allocation affects 1940 parity payments only. He noted 1939 parity payments have been appropriated at 212 million dollars and eligibility requires 1939 acreage, wheat planting in 38 or 39, with the 1989 wheat parity set at 11 cents per bushel.
The Teton high school pep troupe and home economics department hosted a Wednesday banquet in the high school gym to celebrate the boys basketball team. Guests included faculty and wives. Betty Young and Audrey Seufert sold tickets while James Rose and Harriet Paulus spoke.
The American Legion Auxiliary contest closed last week with 29 essays from seventh and sixth grades. First prize of $10 went to Leah Ferris, eighth grade. With no high school entries, the prize was shared by honorable mentions Margaret Armstrong Harry Geis and Robert Daley, all seventh graders.
John Shoquist will travel to Bozeman to represent Glacier Park District in the Montana Future Farmers of America state public speaking contest. Six other district winners will compete for a spot at the regional contest in Berkeley, California, on May 8. His talk is titled Soil Erosion Its Causes and Control.
The Choteau Lions Club will host the fourth annual amateur night on Thursday May 11 at the high school auditorium. Contestants from Teton county may perform musical numbers only. groups limited to five with no established professionals. Winners receive cash prizes and a free trip to the Lions district convention in Billings in June.
Halvard Thompson aged 74 died at his ranch home 40 miles northeast of Bole on Friday April 7 after long illness. He resided in the county 28 years and in Teton 40 years. Born January 1865 in Cresco Iowa he is survived by his wife Emma and one daughter in Oregon. Funeral at St Paul Lutheran Fairfield bench with Rev O A Anderson officiating. Pallbearers were John Holm Geo Fuller Henry Hanson Geo Twedd Ben Benson Alex Hanson.
W H Wellenstein says all stock water dams in Teton county under the AAA Range Conservation program must receive approval from the state agricultural conservation committee before construction. Dams must be at least ten feet high with seven feet of water capacity and three feet of freeboard. Rules prohibit approvals for dams located at ranch headquarters or used for irrigation.
Lorraine Breding daughter of Mr and Mrs Wm Breding of Aga wam and Eddie Alzheimer son of Mr and Mrs Ed Alzheimer of Collins were united in marriage last Saturday by Rev E J McGowan. The ceremony was attended by relatives and a dinner followed at the bride her home in Aga wam with about 30 relatives. Lorraine a 1934 Teton county high school graduate and 1936 Kupper Smith Beauty School alumna has worked at local shops. groom farms in Collins and plans the future home there.
Zone selection officials announced that all counties in the district failed to send the CCC enrollments, prompting a Friday enrollment for more youths at Missoula. Local youths should apply at the welfare office. yesterday Teton county enrollees included Neil Hofte Clifford Holt Herman Zier Howard Riphenburg Lewis Simpson Arthur Mauseth and Joseph Klette.

George Carroll Teton county chairman for the Citizens Military Training Camp has received application blanks and literature describing the camp to be held at Fort Missoula from July 1 to 30. The aim is to unite young men across the country, teach citizenship, patriotism, and military training, and develop physical standards. Participants receive board lodging medical care uniforms equipment arms and laundry. Age limit 17 to 24 for the basic course. Inquiries should be directed to Mr Carroll.
Mrs. Casper Klette of Collings gave birth to a nine pound baby girl last Thursday at Chateau Hospital. Several patients were admitted and dismissed this week including Mrs. Howard Cunningham and Wesley Sheeble of Dupuyer. Others listed include Maynard Hospital patient B M Sherwood of Chateau and Forest Newman of Bynum.

Awards including merit badges will be presented and district trophies awarded based on troop rosters as of April 7. The Chateau Odd Fellows lodge marks 120 years with a special program and dance after the regular meeting next Tuesday. The event opens at 7 30 pm, program at 8 30 pm, then dancing to Geo Tennants orchestra. Walter lodge guests join the evening with limited admission for members only.
Mrs J W Breen traveled from Great Falls to Long Beach California to be with her father, 74, who suffered a heart attack and remained in an oxygen tent. Her mother is also in fragile health after a prior stroke.
