Chicago April 10 J Ogden Armour leading packer and grain dealer urged government price fixing for all food products. He called for government supervision of production and prices, including a guaranteed $1.50 per bushel minimum for wheat and possible meat price controls, plus meatless days to conserve supplies.
Washington reports 686 neutral vessels sunk by German submarines since the war began through April 3, including 19 Americans. More than one third of losses involve neutral ships, with many others terrorized into port and a sizable but unspecific death toll aboard neutrals and belligerent steamers. Official notes say about 250 Americans have perished on neutral and belligerent steamers combined.
Through April 16 to 22 a town wide clean-up campaign is urged with residents asked to cut weeds and place garbage for weekly collection. The Clib RE t Is le plans open house at the reading room April 17 with donations of good used books for the new library and children's books encouraged.

Washington April 10 The Wilson administration and Cabinet review war mobilization outlining pressing needs of food supplies ocean going ships and financing to support Americas war effort. They propose coordinating munitions and a large army to back European aid and plan to appoint Goethals to oversee a fleet of 1000 wooden ships for the Shipping Board.
