Hattersley chairs the district effort, with Attys. B. I. Packer Geo. M. Coffey and E. L. Kileffman named to lead a county committee and coordinate meetings likely in the courthouse. Details on dates and topics will be announced.
The local lodge marks the 121st anniversary of Odd Fellowship with a dinner by the Dorcas Society at 6:30 pm on Tuesday April 15. The lodge meeting at 8:00 pm will be followed by a Rebecca program and dancing. All Odd Fellows and Rebeccas are urged to attend, with escorts for single members.
Mose Henault Wallace Grant and Leonard Steele of Heart Butte paid $25 fines plus $2.50 costs each for illegal beaver pelt possession. Grant and Henault also paid an extra $25 each for elk hunting out of season after arraignment before Justice Ahlquist in Conrad following arrest by Deputy Warden Renshaw.
The Chateau Woman's Club will hold an important meeting on Tuesday afternoon at the public school. The music and literature group will be in charge of the program led by Mie Maralsia or similar name.
George Gunther’s house cat gave birth to kittens in cold weather. Two kittens appeared dead but later revived as the day warmed. The scene shifted from apparent tragedy to a surprising morning feeding as the litter survived due to warming conditions.
The Sportsmen's Association committee kicks off its annual drive led by H M Daley Snappy Stanson and Chuck Davis reporting about 80 memberships secured so far with more prospects to visit. The group began the year with 45.17 balance on March 21 1941 and aims to raise funds for local benefits from the state commission through member dues wildlife stamps and banquet tickets totaling 235.92 in receipts and various disbursements.

Tickets cost 60 cents and must be bought before April 17. Ticket sales are limited and early purchase is urged. Previous chairwoman Mrs Irene Dauwalder reported last year’s event was highly successful.
Betty Webb of Chateau leads the Great Falls Camera club contest with 43 votes for a photo of St. Mary's Cake while rival 27 votes. Webb swapped a box camera for a high impact shot as works by others use expensive gear. D. W. Hutchinson also submitted prints. Displays run at the civic center 9 am to 9 pm with closing date April 20 and prizes from local firms.
Chateau Post No 6 American Legion schedules a meeting in the club room next Monday at 6 p.m. Members urged to attend and participate in routine post affairs.
Election day passed serenely in Chateau Monday with 141 votes cast in both wards. Henry D. Robison was elected mayor with 1384 total across wards. First ward aldermen C Woussard and F G Curtis won 72 and 67 votes. second ward aldermen Chick Sulgrove and Al Doughty won 71 and 67. J G Jackson and Tred Barribal led with 141 votes for magistrate and treasurer respectively. A contentious levy for 1. mills for the city museum failed by six votes. School trustees S N Halvorson and Martin Hanson were elected for three-year terms.
The public school speech arts class under Ruby A. Miller presents the three act comedy American Passport at the high school auditorium Friday at 8 15. Tickets 25c adults 15c children with Rexall drugstore seats 10c extra. The cast includes Donald Passmore Doris Carlson Dan O Neil Yvonne Wheeler Jane LeDesky Haydn Van Auken Aunt Jen Mary Low Forrest Robert Smith and Bob Carlson with Anna Lee Dauwalder Martha Brown Lola Nelson Virginia Sabo and Edna Arensmeyer assisting in tickets prompts and announcements.
Ed Isaac extension horticulturist from Bozeman will lead a public meeting at Fairfield High School on Saturday at 8 p m. The program includes general information on plantings and colored slides illustrating home beautification projects.

B N Packer elected vice commander. other officers include Fred Roth, Ed Uleberg, Peter Pavilenti, and Auxiliary officers Vera Robertson, Phil Hawley, Tom Wiles, and Frank Morger. Figures note attendees from Chateau, banquet presided by Dan P Treutever.
At a Lions Club meeting C. C. Davis was humorously inducted into fatherhood with Arnold Hanusa and Coach Johnnie Dunckel leading the playful skits. Davis received gifts to aid his new role as his infant daughter modeled in the ceremony. Irshal Davis announced soloists for an upcoming Missoula music contest, featuring Anna Lee Dauwalder on baritone, Eileen Reiquam on flute, Christie Swanson on saxophone, and Ray Tumblin delivering a high school FFA oration.
The Chamber of Commerce sponsors the second Easter Eye hunt for children up to age 12 in Chateau this Saturday afternoon. Eggs donated by local businesses will be hidden by Boy Scouts in the city park and court house lawn, with prizes up to 1.00 for eggs returned to donors. Egg hunt starts at 2 pm after a fire siren. no entry limit. Weather could delay or cancel.
The Owen library shifts to daily weekday hours 2 to 5 pm and 7 to 9 pm, starting Monday, with Sundays excluded. A WPA librarian, Mrs. Charles Roberts, will staff the library to assist readers, while bookmobile services continue and requests for topical books are welcomed.
