Choteau science students at the University of Montana fair earned one superior, four excellent, three good and one special rating. Frank Hensley led with a superior for Does Age Influence Learning, building on last year’s eighth grade grand award. Jose Lopez Saldana, Jim Alzheimer, Burr Field, and John Chane also earned excellence, while Sally Sulgrove, Duane Halverson, and Jane Southard gained good ratings. Saldana received a special Army citation for a meritorious math exhibit.

The Chateau City Council granted permission to the Log Cabin Drive-Inn to erect a 97 foot long metal carport extending from the west end toward the alley with a 32 foot width beyond the building. Estimated cost is $3,000 as set by owner Ed Jacobsen.

Most Choteau teachers intend to return next year with only five not returning. Elementary will lose three positions but one filled by Elmer Erickson after a leave and Sandra Spears replaced by Larry Maze. Mrs. Charles Boussard reports the annual Heart Fund drive has raised 1900 with most contributions accounted for, down slightly from about 2000 last year. Choteau VFW auxiliary completes eighth year of house to house canvassing under Mrs. Leo Pierre and Mrs. William Forrest. last year for the auxiliary. AFS Students To Be Featured At Choteau High
Three foreign students will be featured speakers at a Choteau High School program sponsored by the AFS chapter. Jose Luis Lopez Saldana of Spain Daniel Guiglaris of France and Bengt Hansen of Norway will speak and answer questions. The chapter seeks $750 by July 1 to fund another student for 1967-68 and invites donations to Robert Gronberg at Citizens State Bank.

Chateau Seventh-day Adventist Church Dedication
Dedication services for the Chateau Seventh-day Adventist Church will be held Saturday April 8 at 3 p.m. in the new 701 First Street N.E. building. Elder Willis J Hackett of Portland will be the main speaker with a full program of music readings and prayers. Regular services precede the dedication with Sabbath School baptism and worship. The church organized in 1949 and the building fund began in 1954. construction began in 1963 and was completed recently with an estimated value around 35000.

Shelley Baquet Wins UN Youth Pilgrimage Contest
Shelley Baquet daughter of Mr and Mrs Gene Baquet from the Collins community has been chosen as the winner among local high school sophomores and juniors for the 18th annual Odd Fellows United Nations Pilgrimage for Youth this summer. She will visit New York in July with more than 1 000 student observers from the US and Canada. The program, sponsored by Odd Fellow and Rebekah lodges through the Sovereign Grand Lodge youth committee, includes UN study visits, viewing committees in five official UN languages, and tours of WHO UNESCO FAO and other agencies. Delegates visit the UN headquarters the US Mission to the UN International House a Manhattan boat ride a Radio City Music Hall night and the Empire State Building observatory. Baquet will receive a parchment certificate at Dutton High School class night. Honorable mentions go to Sally Sulgrove Cathy Corey and Cynde Tesch of Chateau High School.

Stenson Loses Elevator in Simms Fire
The Simms Elevator about half a mile north of Simms and owned by Boyd Stenson in Cha teau was destroyed by fire last Wednesday at about 2 am. Loss estimated at $6000, partially insured, with volunteers from Simms and Fort Shaw stopping spread to a nearby gasoline tank. Fire cause undetermined.

Charles Twiggs To Stand Trial On Check Charge
Charles Twiggs aged 32 will stand trial in district court in Chateau on April 7 for failing to make restitution on a bad check and failing to report to the state probation officer. He was arrested at Chinook on December 14 and sent back to Chateau after appearance before Judge R D McPhillips. He had a three year suspended sentence and was ordered to restitution and regular reporting, but the sheriff says he failed on all counts and was returned to Chateau for trial.
