James Crawford introduced Blake Tippetts and Earl Munroe of the Montana Cattle Feeders Association who spoke on Montana feeder cattle shipments and the economic role of on‑state feeding. Munroe cited 916,000 head shipped out yearly and a $55,000,000 annual income loss. Senator Rice Acts as Acting Governor of Montana
Montana state Senator Paul Rice of Teton County served as Acting Governor after Governor Don Nutter and Lt. Governor Tim Babcock left the state. At 71, Rice became acting chief executive by virtue of being Senate president pro tem, with Clyde Hawks as next in line if needed. The Governor and Lt. Governor were in Las Vegas on personal business. This marks a rare instance of a pro tem stepping in, a precedent also seen in 1918 with Tommy Larson.

In Teton County history a 1859 expedition by Father Adrian Hoecken and Father Vincent Magri explored a Blackfoot site near Chateau for a proposed mission. They built three log cabins but the mission was abandoned on March 13, 1860 amid hostility. The rock outcrop known as Priest Butte, named after the site, later supplied material for local buildings.
