The annual report of General Du Mont shows 58 steam vessel accidents in the year broken down as seven from five, thirteen from collisions, eight from broken pipes, two explosions, and eighteen from snags wrecks and sinkings. Total loss of life was 404, up 123 from the prior year, with 158 passengers and 246 crew members among the dead.
