General Buller seeks limited war correspondents while Queen Victoria bids farewell to him at Balmoral before his South Africa command.

In Knoxville Tennessee two masked burglars broke in at dawn and chloroformed Mrs. Kimbrough after forcing entry into the residence of O ranium. They tied up his sister, searched a room belonging to Travium treasurer of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, and seized several hundred dollars though the bulk remained concealed by Mrs. Kimbrough.
