Richard Bland Dies a Noted Silver Cause Pioneer
Richard Parks Bland died at his Lebanon Missouri home at 4 30 am after a March return from Congress and a grip relapse. Known as Silver Dick Bland he was a farmer lawyer and longtime congressman renowned as the father of the silver cause. Born near Hartford Kentucky August 19 1835 his career spanned Missouri Utah Nevada and California with service in the 43rd through 52nd and 58th congresses and a 55th term as a silver Democrat.
