Town notes urge voters to back William A. Blount for the U.S. Senate with Chipley as a Blount stronghold. A tax and property returns reminder appears, while local events include a stump blasting demonstration on the Dekle farm two miles south of Chipley.
W A Blount denies withdrawal from the Spring 1910 primaries. He charges newspapers and circulars circulated without the December 23 1909 date mislead voters into thinking he has quit. He asserts he will remain in the race and questions the campaign method used by his opponent Mr Bryan.
The State Board of Health pledges protection through vaccination for all who accept it, while refusers face risk. Florida cannot end smallpox while northern states allow it, but local ordinances can enforce vaccination. Cities already require it and vaccination ends outbreaks quickly with immunity.

C A Myers of Tallahassee stayed a day or two this week. G B Bush chaired the school board from his Hill Farm Saturday. T J Willingham of Tifton Ga spent two days here last week on business. J and M Mathie of Oakland Cal visited Friday. Tom Coleman returned Monday from Atlanta after a week away. Miss Jennie Jackson visited Vernon Saturday. J J Williams and wife A I Miller and wife and W O Butler Jr formed an auto party to visit Baofay Monday. Dr Tiller and wife and A I Miller and wife tested the Doctor’s new automobile Sunday, driving to Vernon. Mrs Tiller remained a few days.
Walter Gentry arranged a sale that makes A. R. Wellh the owner of the store building once opened by G. W. Watts and occupied by W. J. Schell. The purchase price was 32800 dollars. The second primary for a U S senate seat is teased with a clue about the winner, to be announced after next Tuesday.
State Superintendent Holloway asks public school teachers to observe Arbor Day on the first Friday in February with programs and tree plantings at schools. Arbor Day has long been observed in Florida with modest ceremonies, and officials urge active student participation to improve school grounds and community aesthetics.
