Four By-Laws For City Improvements On August Vote
Four money by-laws will be voted Friday August 2 to cover costs for site and building work for fire hall No 2 and machine shed, city hall, drainage, and street macadamizing. The plan spreads payments over years to keep taxes low while improving streets citywide with a proposed total rate of 14.25 mills if approved, or about 22.4 mills if rejected. The council argues good streets attract residents and that quarry operations could later reduce tax rates.
