Yemeni President Abdullah Sallal arrives in Cairo for talks with Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser over a peace plan aimed at uniting Arab factions. Sallal denounces the plan as abnormal interference in Yemen's affairs and protests intensify with a rally and threats of general strike.
About 1,400 demonstrators led by Father James Groppi and civil rights activist Dick Gregory marched through Milwaukee from St. Boniface Church toward City Hall after lifts on a nighttime ban. After earlier nights of arrests the tone was calmer with chants and humor amid tense tensions with authorities.
