President and Mrs. Lyndon B Johnson led a large wave of Texans voting in a record turnoutin Dallas and across the state. Precincts reported long lines, with some boxes up to three blocks long, as voters lined up at 7 a.m. and later. The Johnsons voted in Johnson City at 8 15 a.m. casting a straight Democratic ticket. National turnout was also rising with forecasts of about 72 million ballots as the Johnson Goldwater race drew massive participation nationwide.

Oklahoma State University basketball player Bob Swatter survived a six hour operation after his arm was twisted off by a clothes dryer. Doctors at University Hospital report he is in very satisfactory condition with a fair chance of saving the limb, though recovery will take weeks. Swatter, a 6 foot 5 Tulsa native, was tangled in a laundry dryer near the football stadium. roommate Gary Hassmann promptly wrapped the limb in wet towels and rushed both to Stillwater.

New Manager Named for Woolworths in Childress
Raymond L. Ivey of Cheyenne Wyoming has been named manager of the Woolworth Store in Childress. He replaces Jerry Kilcrease who moves to the Post Exchange at Fort Bliss near El Paso.
