BEHHYD WORLD Riot Sparks Federal Action and Rioting
Anticipating widespread unrest in Birmingham Alabama federal troops were sent in while Alabama National Guard steps toward federalization were considered. Rioting followed bombings at Rev A D King home and the Gaston motel injuring at least 22 people and damaging shops homes and vehicles. Police faced violent attacks including a stabbed officer and a battered taxi driver as order was restored with roadblocks and restricted access.
