Skidmore Receives Five Year Suspended Term in Hog Theft
Harley Skidmore of Childress was convicted of hog theft and received a five year suspended sentence from a seven man five woman jury. The pigs were allegedly stolen and found in his possession by sheriff’s deputies last year. He claimed the animals came from an unknown stranger. The Williams burglary case was deferred, and Victoria Alexander was sentenced to 25 years for murder with malice in a separate trial. Allen Harp prosecuted both cases before Judge Luther Gribble.

High School Freshman Saves Boy From Sludge Pit
Harold Dowdy, 16, used a rope to lasso five year old Stanley Thomas who was sinking in a six foot deep oil sludge pit at Meacham Field. Tommy Philbeck, 8, initially tried to pull Stanley out before Harold acted. Stanley was treated for oil and tar exposure and released. no serious injuries reported.
