Military spokesmen lifted secrecy on daily U S combat losses and said at least 80 Communists were killed while 24 Americans died and 74 wounded in South Vietnam. Two U S Air Force F4C jets were linked to a fatal friendly air raid that killed 83 Vietnamese and wounded 175. Marines suffered the heaviest losses with 15 killed and 38 wounded as they fought across jungle areas near the DMZ.

James William Grigsby of Childress was charged with DWI after a two car crash nine miles west of ChilDress on US 287 Sunday at 11 15 p m. He pleaded guilty in County Court and received 125 dollars and costs, three days in jail, and six month license suspension. Patrolman Bobby Chaffin investigated the crash which involved Robert Harwell Downs of Elgin Air Force Base.

Flight recorders found in Lake Central crash probe
Investigators recovered two flight recorder units from the Convair 580 crash site near Kenton Ohio in freezing rain. One unit holds the flight tape with speed altitude and direction while the other contains the pilot controller tower conversations. CAB said tapes are in good condition and will be sent to Washington for analysis. FBI and other agencies assist as searchers comb a snow covered soybean field for wreckage.
