Baseball Commissioner Ford C Frick told a House subcommittee that baseball should remain outside anti trust laws and warned of chaos if immunity ends He proposed revising the minor league draft rule to reduce long player stints in the minors and curb perceived unfairness.
Agriculture Commissioner John White told the Thorndale Co op Oil Mill meeting that the cotton industry must boost markets rather than increase production. He urged joining state and federal efforts on a 100 million dollar long range project to find new uses for cotton, noting even poor grade cotton could supply fabric to wrap bales instead of importing.
A Childress Air Force Reserve unit invites all interested men to a meeting at 8 p m in the courthouse hosted by Maj Jim Ragsdale local commander. Active duty personnel will discuss open positions across nearly all grades and jobs for former service members.
Robert E. Bush branch manager of the Railroad Retirement Board will be at the Texas Employment Commission office at 9 o clock Thursday morning to interview interested individuals.
An American tanker Stony Point and Greek ship Ioannis collided in dense fog off the Brittany coast in the Atlantic. Eight died and twenty others were injured as both vessels burned. 64 of 77 crew members were rescued by ships from four nations. Weather hindered rescue flights as the U S Air Force deployed planes from English and German bases.

Government brings Teamster Union Vice President James R. Hoffa to trial on bribery charges for allegedly bribing a Senate Rackets Committee investigator. Miami lawyer Hyman L. Fischach is named as an alleged accomplice. Hoffa’s case comes as other top Teamster officials face separate legal actions.
