Rep. Overton Brooks of Alabama, a key defense figure, said the House will likely vote again on creating a military reserve force. He plans to rewrite the shelved reserve bill after Eisenhower urged action, noting political amendments previously derailed the measure.
The State Department acknowledged that Russia expelled three US Army attaches from Moscow. Names identified include Lt. Col. John S. Benson, Capt. Walter Mule, and Capt. William R. Stroud. It remains unclear whether the United States will retaliate as tensions in the East-West standoff verge toward Geneva talks.

A tornado passing over Wellington around 7 p m Friday caused widespread damage from hail and rain with winds up to the air 800 feet. The Parker Furniture Company on Highway 83 was demolished and nearby service station roof torn off. National Guard highway patrol and sheriff responders aided the scene with few injuries reported.
Rain hail and high winds battered Childress County Friday night causing crop and tree damage. Hail fell around Kirkland Carey and south of Childress with golf-ball sized stones and two inches of rain in Union Flat. Wellington tornado warnings shifted toward Childress as rainfall totals reached fractions of an inch to three inches in various towns.
In Beijing a radio broadcast said three Americans and two Belgians who had chosen to stay in Communist China after the Korean War would depart. It cited personal reasons including marriage and adjustment difficulties. One American, William A. Cowart, asked to go to Japan. another Belgian chose Laos. The group’s 17 fellow ex UN soldiers and others expressed sorrow at their departure and noted a death among the remaining Americans.

The La Razon newspaper said Anibal Olivieri once navy minister and Rear Adm. Samuel Teranzo of the marine corps were captured after the revolt. Marine Vice Adm. Benjamin Garguilo shot himself in his navy ministry office as loyal forces crushed the uprising. Priests were released for safety, and Peron claimed the rebels killed hundreds and wounded thousands but accomplished nothing.
A panel of 30 doctors and public health officials endorsed finishing the national polio vaccination drive during the peak summer season. They noted small risks from inoculations during epidemics, especially for those with minor illness, and explained some polio cases arise from misdiagnosed illnesses or incomplete vaccine protection. The recommendation, issued by the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis, was approved unanimously.
Erbert Joe Bailey, known bootlegger from Childress, was released on bond then re jailed Saturday after a raid on his business southeast of Childress. Liquor Control Operator Allen Cavitt and Sheriff Gaylon B. Smith arrested him. five half pints found in his possession, four broken.

Defections narrow options as the panel moves to other minor appropriations and the House public works bill awaits action. The Old Settlers Association plans a July 18 celebration in Fair Park with a parade barbecue and entertainment. Officials say the program is not finished yet but will resemble past events with additions and a later announcement of committee chairs and details.

Twenty six individuals obtained certificates from the Foodhandlers School which closed Friday night. The hour day course drew 47 registrants including 11 owners and managers, with instruction led by John T. Warren, Dr. Bob Jones, and Dr. J H Jernigan.
