Texas Range Conditions Hit Low Point In April
The Santa Fe railroad crop report notes Texas range conditions hit a record low on May 1 with the eastern two thirds possibly aided by late April and early May rains. Western Texas remains drought affected, livestock feeding remains heavy, and winter wheat acreage may be far below seeding. Oklahoma shows harvest under way with good to fair yields and potential 55 million bushels. New Mexico faces heavy losses with doubtful harvest of under 500,000 bushels. Cotton planting advances in southern Oklahoma, the Texas High Plains, and eastern New Mexico. ample moisture in June could boost sorghum plantings across four states.
