Gov Price Daniel plans to discuss an October special session with lawmakers after dismissing Speaker Carr’s poll on its necessity. Carr doubts funding for a 30 day session, while Daniel estimates $250000 sufficient and aims to push a lobby control law and water program completion.
Elaine Soule 19, a Freeport, Long Island typist, confessed to bludgeoning Catherine Elvins 20, Seattle socialite, with a flat iron and stabbing her to obtain 160 dollars to pay debts in Burlingame California. The crime left a brutal scene as authorities described it among San Mateo County's worst slayings.

A 40 year old New Mexico man is detained in Childress for questioning in the triple slayings near Carlsbad. He had Hobbs Lovington ties and was in the vicinity when the shootings occurred, with state officers to question him as part of a wider manhunt.
Mrs. Halen Benson Dorsey of Dallas Texas shot Capt Benjamin A Dorsey at their Savannah Georgia residence after claiming hours of abuse. Police report she fired a .22 pistol repeatedly. four children ages three to ten were present. She said he began drinking on his return from Hunter Air Force Base.

Roberson and his family will move to Borger.

A two story Cairo wedding hall collapsed during a belly dance celebration killing many and injuring dozens. Police reported 64 bodies recovered with fears of more. 34 victims were children ages one to 14. The bride, Fatma Sumy, was among the deceased. rescue crews worked through the night to reach survivors and the scene near Saladin's Citadel remained blocked.

Southern Democrats and Republicans split over jury trial guarantees as caucus held to support or oppose key amendments.
Washington reports that House Democrats blamed President Eisenhower for the defeat of the 1.5 billion school construction bill. Republicans defended the President but conceded weak support hurt its passage. The bill failed 208 to 203, with Republicans predicting another attempt next year while Democrats argued the measure is dead for a long time.
Mrs. Fannie A Thomas 88 died at 9 50 this morning at 900 Avenue H Northwest after a brief illness. Funeral at Kirkland Methodist Church Sunday afternoon with Rev. Clare Bounds and Rev. R O Crowder officiating. Burial in Kirkland cemetery. Survivors include five sons W H D Thomas C A Thomas Rev Sam A Thomas A L Thomas and Floyd Thomas. two daughters Viola Furr and Mrs J R Inskeep. 17 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren. Born November 24 1868 in Aurora Illinois she moved to Kirkland in 1902 from McKinney Texas. She was a Methodist.
A 43 year old Houston barber Val Lane shot his estranged wife Fannie Lou Lane 49 in a factory and then killed himself with a .38 pistol. Lane died instantly while his wife remained in critical condition.
