An unusual weather event in the Childress area from 11:30 p.m. to 3 a.m. brought thundershowers and rainfall totals up to 1.93 inches. Damage was reported south and west of the city including mud deposits, collapsed ditches in the Country Club addition, four inch runoffs at Childress and Baylor Lake, broken terraces near Carey, and wind-affected farm buildings northwest of Tell. FAA Station recorded 1.93 inches. higher readings and county notes followed. No cotton damage reported.

Darrel Smokey Davis, 24, faces negligent homicide charges after a scooter car crash near Hollis Oklahoma killed 14 year old Wesley Patterson. Albert Clements Dies in Childress at 81
Albert Leslie Clements 81 died at 12 40 am today at Childress General Hospital after months of illness. Funeral services set for 2 pm Friday at First Baptist Church with Rev Joe Allen and Rev Iran Parrack presiding. Interment in Childress Cemetery. Born June 7 1879 in Pontotoc Mississippi, he was a retired barber and member of First Baptist. He moved to Childress in 1943 from Fremont Texas and was a Mason. Survivors include wife Mary Kirkland, son Scotty Clements, daughter Ruth Thomas, five grandchildren, four brothers and four sisters.
