Miller Accepts Tulsa Position

Sam Miller, longtime manager of Cameron Lumber yard, accepted a post with Oil Capital Lumber and Supply Company in Tulsa. The Cameron yard will close as the Millers relocate around the month's start. Miller has 26 years at Cameron before 1950, then ran a yard in Amarillo until 1955, returned to Childress to manage Cameron, and now moves with civic roles as Lions Club officer and Chamber director.

Greenbelt Bowl Meeting Slated

Directors of the Greenbelt Bowl Inc meet at 2 30 oclock Tuesday in the Chamber of Commerce directors room. W E Eubank reports advisory committee members will join. Present directors include Bert Hargrave Jack Fox Charles Rogers Larry Lawrence Ellis Martha Siler Alyeon Ater Buddy Wilcoxson and representatives of the American Legion and VFW. Several Tornadoes Noted In North Texas Storm line spawns tornadoes and hail across the region

A storm line over northern Texas and toward Lubbock produced at least four tornadoes with hail and dust, while temperatures surged past 107 degrees in Dallas and Fort Worth. Gainesville suffered fires and high winds with a mattress factory burned, and a tornado funnel was reported but not touching ground. damages occurred but no deaths reported.

Severe Sunday storm brought winds over 83 mph and heavy damage across Carey ChilDress and nearby farm areas. Jaycees Rogers and Lawrence Attend Lubbock Convention

Two local Jaycees Andy Rogers and Larry Lawrence attended a summer Tri Regional meeting in Lubbock. Rogers was named parliamentarian and Lawrence served on the Travel Trophy committee and as secretary for the Club Presidents Clinic. Amarillo won the bid for the winter Tri Regional meeting, edging Childress which also bid.

Tickets On Sale For Greenbelt Tilt 1956 Bowl

Advance tickets for the 1956 Greenbelt Bowl football game on August 17 are on sale at the Chamber of Commerce office. Season ticket holders for the Bobcat game have seats reserved until Thursday, July 19. Advance seats cost $1.75, with a $2 price after Wednesday, August 15.

Senate urged to revive 1.6 billion school bill in Congress

Senator Humphrey called on the Senate to revive the failed 1.6B school construction bill defeated in the House. Senator Lehman backed the move as Labor Committee members study chances for Senate approval. They blamed Republicans for the House defeat, noting 75 Republicans vs 119 Democrats on final roll. Senator Case countered that passage was not possible.

Chamber BCD Expected To Join 287 Association

The Chil dress of C BCD voted not to join any highway group after a swindle in the name of the Highway 287 Association. Tom Manning and the board discussed rescinding the decision at the next meeting. Manning said the scam spread across towns along the route from Port Arthur to Yellowstone. the thief remains at large. The association counts over 700 members with Ray Hoskins as president and Worth Coffee Texas director.

Parr's Support Not Wanted By Candidates

George Parr, a Texas political boss, announced support for several state candidates, but most balked. Sen.
