Washington UPI writes that a proposed federal aid package for parochial and private schools appears dead as Democrats in the House fail to muster enough Rules Committee votes to advance either the parochial or public school bills. The plan would have funded 375 million dollars in loans for non profit schools and 14 billion for defense education programs, with Southern Democrats wary of direct votes on church-state issues. Aquatic Show honors 225 swimming students at Fair Park
