Government expenditures in the first three months after Nixon's resignation total at least 367,878 dollars. The largest item, eighty three thousand dollars, paid to crate and store the former president's papers at facilities including the National Archives and the Executive Office.
Former Oklahoma Senator Fred R Harris announces his candidacy for the 1976 Democratic presidential race in Concord New Hampshire calling for full employment and fair taxes. He describes his campaign as a people's effort in strategy and beliefs as he positions himself as a new populist. Harris, 44, emphasizes economic issues as the core of his campaign.
Texas unemployment registered 4.8 percent versus 7.1 percent nationwide. The November tally showed 254000 unemployed, affecting about 600000 Texans and families. Texas business activity reached 201.3 percent of the 1967 base, up 2.8 percent from November 1973.
Minnie Ann Partain 84, of Amarillo former Childress resident, died Friday at St. Anthony's Hospital. Funeral services at 2 p.m. today at Newberry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Marvin James officiating. Burial in Childress Cemetery. She was born December 14, 1890 in Pilot Point Texas. Survived by two sons C. F. Partain of Amarillo and S. B. Partain of Lufkin, two daughters Mrs. Howard Hackler of Lufkin and Mrs. Annette Gay of Amarillo, one sister Mrs. Calla Sparkman of Amarillo, five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Preceded in death by husband Sidney Partain 21 years ago. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Childress.
The Childress County Youth Project Show is set for Friday and Saturday January 31 and February 1 at the Fair Park Auditorium and the Bus Barn. Sponsored by the Young Farmers Agriculture Committee and the Childress Chamber of Commerce, it welcomes FFA FHA 4 H and other youth of Childress County.
