Loaded Guns Force Parr Man From Taking Office
In San Diego Texas George Parrman appointed Duval county sheriff early today and intended to assume the office. Deputies of Sheriff J P Stockwell remained armed to prevent Vidal Garcia from taking over as sheriff. The commissioner's court named Garcia the new sheriff at 1 30 a m with eight deputies on duty. An Old Party member grabbed film of editor Wallace Smith after photos show deputies with loaded guns. Parr’s supporters swore in six countywide officers and a majority of constables and peace justices. Archer Parr, his nephew, became county judge.
