Viet Cong shells hit Da Nang air base and Ap Do village before dawn killing 47 people including 12 Americans and wounding 45 others. The raid damaged or destroyed jet facilities, base buildings, and about 150 village homes, marking the first use of eight inch rockets in the war.

Texas Violent Death Toll Low This Weekend
A United Press International count shows at least 20 people died violently in Texas over the weekend ending Sunday night. Fourteen fatalities were from traffic accidents including a head-on collision on U.S. 60 near Hereford and deaths involving Amarillo and Hearne area incidents.

Scott Services Held in Dodson
Funeral services for El ten Scott 91 of Dodson were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Church of Christ in Dodson with Claude Walkup of Hollis and Van Bonneau of Dodson assisting. Burial followed in Dodson Cemetery. Mrs. Scott died February 21 in Turlock California where she had lived about a year. She had lived in Dodson since 1908 before moving to California. Survivors include daughters Grady Scott of Dodson and Josephine Scott of Turlock, son Fred of Modesto California, and Gene of Phoenix Arizona.

Gresham Rites Are Held Today for William J. Gresham
Final rites for William J. Gresham aged 72 of Millsap were held at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Quitaque with Pastor Bill Curry officiating assisted by Rev. Al Jennings. Burial followed in Matador Cemetery. Gresham, a retired construction worker, died Saturday in O Anthony's Hospital.
