Liquor Runner Arrested on Dry County Charge
Jim Oakley, recently released from state prison, is jailed in Childress County charged with transporting liquor in a dry area. He was arrested Friday night on the Hollis Childress highway by Texas Liquor Control Agents. Officers found wine and beer in his possession as he tried to take liquor to Memphis. Bond set at 1500 by County Judge Leonard King. Oakley could not meet it. County Attorney Charles Reynolds said agents are acting to cut bootlegging and liquor sales to minors.
