The jury in the Al Smith pistol case was excused for lunch before final arguments. Sam Ralph Hill pleaded guilty to DWI, receiving $125 fine, costs, three days in jail, and license suspension. Five Teens Collapse From Carbon Monoxide In Texas
Five Snyder teens collapsed in an Andrews church from carbon monoxide from a leaky exhaust while en route to a church meeting. Names include Mary Helen Stephens 13 Neva Joyce Stephens 15 W A Jones 14 Alton Miles 15 James McCormick 16. All were taken to a hospital and reported in fair condition.

Suspects Hunted in Childress After Paducah Robbery
Police in Paducah seek three suspects two White men and a woman in a late night to early morning robbery or attempted robbery of a safe at the Paducah Coca Cola Bottling Co. The vanishing car sighted was a brown Chrysler or a Chevrolet from the 1950s. The safe contents were not taken though papers and records were scattered. The car was seen heading toward Childress after 5 am. City Judge Bud Copelin commented on the unresolved opening of the safe.

Pioneer merchant B E Rushing dies on 83rd birthday
Bennie Elza Rushing prominent and pioneer groceryman died at 4 30 a m on his 83rd birthday in Childress General Hospital after a critical illness. He was born February 24 1876 in Navarro County Texas and moved to Newlin in 1895 later operating B E Rushing Co and the I Spy Selly store in Childress. Survivors include his wife Susie May, two sons A J and Robert E, a brother C Lee Rushing, two sisters Mrs J A Rowell and Mrs T R Garrott. Funeral set for Thursday at Newberry Funeral Chapel with Rev Luther Crawford officiating. Burial in Newlin cemetery under Newberry directions.
