Chamber of Commerce Plans and Activities in Childress
At the recent Chamber of Commerce meeting in Childress plans were made for entertaining the U S Highway 287 Caravan passing through March. A breakfast will honor the delegation with local officials and their wives attending. The banquet guest speaker tentatively will be Lieutenant General John Paul McConnell. Brochures for hotels and motels were approved. A joint Tourist and Industrial Committee meeting was approved to promote Childress. Brochures and window placards highlighting recreational facilities were approved. A float will enter the Shamrock Parade on March 17 with Jaycees assisting repairs. Regular meetings were set for the second Thursday monthly. Reports covered trips to Wichita Falls and Abilene. Speak Up For Childress surveys are still being received. An entry in the Lane Bryant award contest was approved for one Childress individual. A rattlesnake hunt and relocating Chamber offices were tabled for later discussion.

Six County Traffic Accidents Reported January
Highway patrolmen logged six accidents in Childress County during January injuring seven people with no fatalities and $1,905 in damage per Suez report. Collingsworth County had one accident with $300 damage. Cottle County saw none. Hall County recorded six crashes causing $9,015 in damage and six injuries. Hardeman County reported six crashes with nine injuries and $7,200 in damage.
