First 50 Modular Homes Completed for Algeria Project

Lancer has a December contract to produce 186 homes for Austin Europe Company to house refinery workers for El Paso Natural Gas, with August as the completion target. Ferguson Rites Set For Today
Funeral services for Vester Marvin Ferguson age 67 are set for 2 p.m. today at the Childress Assembly of God Church with the Rev. James Tynes officiating assisted by Rev. Joe S. Allen of First Baptist Church. Burial follows at Newberry Cemetery. Ferguson a retired butcher died at 2 45 a.m. Saturday in Childress General Hospital. He was born September 13 1909 in Jacksboro and came to Childress County in 1926. He married Iva Boydston in 1935 in Childress. Survivors include his wife.

Funeral services held for Eugene R. Key longtime Childress banker
Eugene Roy Key, 72, a pioneer Childress County banker, died Thursday after a long illness. Funeral services were held Saturday at First United Methodist Church with Rev. James Price and Rev. Joe S. Allen officiating. Burial followed in Childress Cemetery with Masonic rites by Lodge 695. Key came to Childress in 1916, worked at First State Bank in Kirkland starting 1925, moved bank to Childress in 1939, and retired as vice president in 1975. He served in civic roles including Old Settlers treasurer, school board member, Chamber of Commerce director, Boy Scouts district treasurer, and fund treasurer for various causes.
