H C Preslar former mayor announced another bid for mayor while Warner Stevens a Childress post office clerk was named candidate for the Childress Independent School District board of trustees. Stevens has 15 years with the post office and two children in school.

Yarbrough to chair rural development conference financing
R A Yarbrough manager of Gate City Electric REA will participate in the Rural Development Conference set for February 18 and 19 at Texas Tech in Lubbock. The event aims to coordinate a power use program for rural agencies and businesses with about 200 attendees from extension, vocational agriculture, soil conservation, farm home agents, manufacturers, distributors, and 26 rural electric co-ops. 4 H Club Team Wins Top Prize At San Antonio Fat Stock Show
The Childress 4 H grass judging team won first place at the San Antonio Fat Stock Show scoring 1 182 points coached by W E Hafner. Members Kelton Parker Darrell Seal Hubert Cochran Leonard King and David Oze led with Parker placing fourth individually and Cochran Seal King earning medals as the top seven teams and individuals were noted.
