Gustin Rites Held Saturday
Funeral services for eight year old Mark Nolan Gustin of Pampa were held at 4 p.m. Saturday at Childress First Baptist Chapel. Rev. Claude Cone and Rev. Joe S. Allen officiated. Burial followed in Childress Cemetery. He died Thursday night in Amarillo after a brief illness. He had open heart surgery in Houston last summer. Survivors include his parents, a brother, grandparents, a great grandfather, and two aunts.

The first significant rain drenched the Childress area from Thursday into Friday with county totals ranging from one inch upward. The heaviest fell about 1.5 inches south of Childress, while West Ranch north of Red River logged 1.25 inches and the FAA station at Childress recorded 1.33 inches. A farmer called the rain slow and perfect. Dense fog reduced visibility across Southeast Texas early today, with South and East Texas seeing visibilities under half a mile. In Central and West Texas the report continues.
