Two Face Fines Jail For DWI

A Childress man and a Fort Worth man were arrested Saturday and charged with driving while intoxicated. Douglas O. Watkins pleaded guilty in county court, fined 10 dollars plus costs, three days in jail, and six month license suspension. Luther Samuel Atkinson received 100 dollars fine, three days in jail, and six month license suspension.

John White Heads Three New Entries In Senatorial Race

Agriculture Commissioner John White joins Curtis Ford and Jack Hill in announcing U S Senate candidacies for the April 2 special election to fill the unexpired term ending January 1959. Ford cites integrity and common sense while Hill is a Fort Worth contractor and former legislator. White features a positive campaign stance and no party pressure. Continued on Page Five.

Senators Challenge Eisenhower Middle East Resolution

Two Democratic senators in Washington accused President Eisenhower of seeking a blank check to use U S forces and spend 200 million for the Middle East without Congress. Record Players Stolen From Wilson School

Two record players vanished from Wilson School over the weekend. The theft was reported by the Police Department after janitor O. M. Jones found a broken window in the hallway between Wilson and the cafeteria. Evidence indicates entry via a window and rooftop access with tools similar to a prior school break. A projector was damaged but not stolen.

Roy Mock a six year business veteran died Sunday at 4 90 p m in Childress General Hospital after a stroke Thursday. Funeral services are set for 3 p m Tuesday at the Church of Christ with Minister Harrell Collard officiating. Burial will follow in Childress Cemetery. One Killed In Two Car Wreck Near Paducah

Mrs A A Hood 46 of Labbork died on arrival at a Paducah hospital after a two car collision at the intersection of highways 82 and 83 near Guthrie. Joe Lee Culpepper 31 of Temple was listed in critical condition with a broken hip and multiple injuries. Hood and her husband were returning from Lubbock to Fort Worth when the crash occurred. Culpepper allegedly failed to yield.

Injuries Fatal To Mrs Carter In Santa Fe Train Crash

Mrs Carter 75 died at hospital about 11 40 a m January 30 following injuries in a Santa Fe freight wreck. Funeral services were held at Newberry Funeral Home with Baptist pastor Dr Clifton Tennison officiating. She was born April 10 1882 in Cleburne and lived in Childress 40 years.
