Severe weather swept North and Central Texas with tornadoes hail and torrential rains causing at least four deaths in traffic incidents. Claude man dies in garage Gunshot self-inflicted
Gilcie J. Cagle 55 of Claude died from a shotgun blast in his garage. Justice of the Peace George R. Byard pronounced him dead around 4 p.m. neighbors reported a shot heard at 3:30. A coroner’s inquest was ordered and funeral services are pending. Surviving are his wife Novellie and four sons.

Requirements To Vote Saturday In Bond Election
Voters must meet three criteria to ballot in the Saturday School Bond election. Property ownership with rendered valuation is required, no last minute renders. Age 21 requires an exemption and rendered property, while 61+ with rendered property can vote without a poll tax or exemption. One voting box at Childress High School opens 8 am to 7 pm. Absent votes total 81. The bond funds a new high school, repairs to the present high school for a Junior High, and Wilson Elementary School. Trustees cited only one site, just north of the current high school.

Luther H Holtman 76 died at 5 25 am in Childress General Hospital after weeks of illness. Funeral at 10 am Friday at Childress Church of Christ with ministers John W Gay and E A Sanders officiating. Interment in Childress Cemetery under Newberrys direction. Survivors include wife Cora Jane, six sons Henry L Jr Randy Lynn Arlois Ray ford, two sisters, two brothers, two step brothers, 20 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. One daughter preceded him in death.

High School Students May Give Blood
High school seniors nationwide show growing interest in donating blood though parental consent is required for ages 18 to 59. The Blood Center notes 289 pints aided local patients in 1965, with 67 pints for out of town hospitals, totaling 365 pints. 229 pints came from local donors. The bloodmobile will visit Childress Fair Park Auditorium from 12 to p.m. Friday.
