Snowbound Panhandle Bus Rescue Underway
A Texas Panhandle snowstorm stranded hundreds and left buses and motorists blocked. Five students and a driver were found safe in a ranch house. other buses remained missing or stuck as schools closed and rescue crews aided stranded families through the night.

Conditions of Roads in Texas From State Highway Dept
The State Highway Department reports heavy snow and high winds blocking U S 66 from Amarillo to the state line and U S 87 from Dumas to Texline in Amarillo District. Farm to market roads in Dumas Dalhart and Stratford areas are also affected. Lubbock District notes three to four inches of snow in Palmer County with drifting and hazardous driving, light rain and occasional snow elsewhere, all roads open. Former Resident G. Edwin Smith Dies in Amarillo
Mrs. G. Edwin Smith, once of Childress, died suddenly at 1 p.m. in an Amarillo hospital after weeks of illness. She was sister to W. E. Ernst and Dan Davis of Childress. Born in Temple, Texas, she had schooling in Childress and lived at 2322 Juniper Ave in Amarillo. Funeral plans were not finalized, with services expected at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Amarillo.
