George Bruce Dies: Longtime High Point Farmer
George Watson Bruce 62 a High Point area farmer died about 530 pm Tuesday at Childress General Hospital after several days in care. Funeral services 2 pm Thursday at the local First Methodist Church with Rev. Rollo Davidson Rev Ira L Parrack and Rev R M Crain officiating. Burial in Childress Cemetery by Newberry Funeral Home. He was born October 13 1896 in Georgetown Texas came to Childress County in 1900 and lived in High Point. He taught Sunday School and served as past president of the Childress County Singing Association and was a director of the County Farm Bureau. His wife died in 1941 and two daughters were killed in a 1941 auto accident. Survivors include one sister Mrs Johnny Henley of High Point two nephews Leon and Aubry Dean Henley and one niece Mrs Nadine Parr.
