Red Build Up Near Formosa Continues
Taipei Formosa February 4 The Chinese Communists have redirected nearly one million troops to defend the Shanghai to Canton area. Reports say 150000 crack units from Korea have been rushed into the coastal zone near disputed offshore islands and are stationed in Fukien and Checkiang provinces. Officials estimate 235 divisions with ground forces around 3.5 million men including one million security troops. Some American officers doubt a full frontline force of one million, yet acknowledge abundant manpower. In Korea offensives slow after four days due to supply limits, while home territory offers easier supply. The Reds reportedly maintain a home guard of 13 million.
